Are door cylinders easy to remove and replace?
Yes, follow these instructions -- Open the door and unscrew the fixing screw which is located on the face plate of the lock housing, in line with the bottom of the euro profile cylinder. Put the key into one side and apply pressure to the other side. Turn the key one way and the cylinder should slide out, if it does not - turn the key the other way and the cylinder should slide out. -- Take your new cylinder and insert a key and turn it until the cam is inline with the body of the cylinder. Insert the new cylinder into position and replace the fixing screw. Check the operation of the lock before you close the door.
I am replacing a cylinder. How can I work out what length of cylinder is required?
Open the door and look at the lock faceplate. Ensure that the handles are fixed and measure the centre of the screw fixing hole below the deadbolt to the outside of the handle faceplate. The dimensions to the external and internal could vary so ensure you measure both sides. Look at the measurement chart for

How far should a cylinder protrude out of the door handle ?
Door cylinders come in increments of 5mm in overall length. A + B in the drawing. It is recommended that you fit cylinder with 2mm protruding from the handle back plates but due to the overall lengths of cylinders this is not always possible, however protrusion should never exceed 5mm. It is most sensible to go for exactly the same size as you are replacing.
Will a Euro-Profile cylinder fit all doors ?
So long as the hole in the handle face plate and lock housing are light bulb shaped then the style will fit the door, however care has to be taken to ensure the length is correct.
Can I get keys cut locally for SABRE cylinders ?
Many local key cutting shops carry standard key blanks, however occasionally certain cylinders require different thickness of keys. It is recommended you obtain original
SABRE KEYS. Please note IFI cannot offer a key cutting service.
I want the same key to be used on several doors, can I do this ?
At the moment the Sabre range is limited, although we will be offering Paired cylinders later in 2007. This will allow the same key to be used on french doors. For further information please see

Do you supply special cylinder types such as Thumbturn or single entry ?
Not in the Sabre range, however we can procure to order. Please
email your requirements.
What in ANTI-DRILL ?
Special hardened pins are used in the front on the pin assembly closest to key entry. These make it very difficult for the cylinders to be drilled out.
What is a PIN ?
Pins are inserted into the underside of Europrofile cylinder are used to make the combination. The more pins the greater the possible combinations - So 6 pins offers more combinations than 5 pin.
What is a Flag Door Hinge ?
A flag hinge for PVC doors is a three way adjustable hinge which consists of two main parts. A base is screwed to the outer frame of and the flag is fixed to the main door sash (leaf).
How do I change my Flag Hinges ?
It is not recommended that anyone without knowledge of door installation undertakes any sort of repair or replacement work involving PVC Door Hinges. Should you feel that the existing hinges need replacing or that they need upgrading please consult an industry professional.
How can I tell what curing system my current silicone is?
If you smell the old empty cartridge, you will be able to detect an odour. If the smell is acidic (like vinegar), the the product will be ACETOXY cure (
IFI E30). Neutral cure silicones (
IFI E40) do not give off a strong odour and are often considered almost odourless.
Which silicone is recommended for use in sealing around Window and Door Frames ?
For most perimeter pointing applications, IFI recommend an ALCOXY curing LOW MODULUS NEUTRAL CURE silicone sealant. The E40 range available from IFI is the ideal product and adheres to most common building substrates.
Can I buy a Multi-Purpose grade of silicone suitable for use in a variety of DIY/Building applications
No, we do not supply multi-purpose silicone sealants. Whilst our core range of Silicones Sealants will suit most glazing and construction applications, they may not be suitable for sealing in Kitchen, Bathrooms and other indoor applications.
What silicone should be used for sealing around baths and showers?
Any area excluding kitchens and aquaria, where water is likely to collect or be left to dry should be sealed with a product which resists growth of mould.
CPX 31 is a Sanitary Grade product contains a funghicide which prevent mildew.
Are any of the ranges of silicone suitable for sealing in Kitchen environments?
CPX 32 is a FOOD SAFE product which similar to CPX 31 contains a funghicide. However as the name suggests the product has been approved by to the FDA standards for products used in Food Preparation areas.
What about sealant for fish tanks and other aquaria ?
It is important that the correct silicone is used in all aquarium applications. Failure to do so could result in water contamination. For this application you need to use
CPX 33.
I have some Decorators Caulk (Chaulk). The tube says NOT BE USED OUTSIDE - Why ?
Decorators Caulk is a water based emulsion filler, used primarily internally for filling cracks before painting (can be referred to as painters chaulk). It is used as a suitable sealant for sealing the inside of window and door frames as it is easily applied and overpaintable.
As a professional applicator, i am interested in recycling. Can I return all my empty plastic sealant cartridges?
No, unfortunately not. But you can ease the waste problems by buying your LMN sealant in FOIL PACKS. This way you do not have a skip full of empties.
I have brought the E30 product for general building and glazing, but it is too runny. Is there an alternative which has a similar curing time?
Of course. There are a few differing grades of sealant which comes in various viscosity (body). Try CPX35, which is a thicker grade.
I need to seal lead flashing. Will E40 damage the lead surface?
Not necessary, but i wouldn't give it a try. If in doubt, take a look at CPX48, which is specially formulated for this application.

We can obtain any europrofile cylinder from Yale, but would advise that anything other than the standard range on the site is likely to be a special. This would be reflected in the price and also the extended delivery time.
